Southern Uzbek Vocabulary - Health

Hi Southern Uzbek learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn Southern Uzbek vocabulary related to health.

Basic Health Vocabulary[edit | edit source]

Let's start with some basic vocabulary related to health:

Southern Uzbek Pronunciation English
сихат sihat Health
бимор bimor Sick
нассақлик nassaqlik Disease
сут sut Pain
даво davo Medicine
сертана sertana Hospital
тиббиёт tibbiyot Treatment

Now that we know some basic vocabulary, let's see some examples in dialogue:

  • Person 1: Қандай сутингиз бор? (Qanday sutingiz bor?) (Do you have any pain?)
  • Person 2: Ҳа, оғизда сут бўлиб шангхода бўладим. (Ha, og'izda sut bo'lib shanghoda boldim.) (Yes, I have a toothache and it hurts in my jaw.)
  • Person 1: Бимор бўлингизми? (Bimor bo'lingizmi?) (Are you sick?)
  • Person 2: Хаёлимда тонзиллит бор. (Xayolimda tonzillit bor.) (I have tonsillitis.)

Body Parts[edit | edit source]

Knowing the names of body parts is also important when talking about health:

кўз ko'z Eye
соғанғи sog'angi Ear
тўғғиз to'g'g'iz Nose
оғиз og'iz Mouth
тил til Tongue
зур zur Tooth
оқуш oqush Throat
бадан badan Body
тўғ to'g' Leg
қўл qol Arm

Let's see some examples:

  • Person 1: Тўггизингиз эсими ёқ? (To'ggizingiz esimi yoq?) (Can you smell anything?)
  • Person 2: Йўқ, тўггизим ўзгаради. (Yo'q, to'ggizim ozgaradi.) (No, I have a cold and cannot smell anything.)
  • Person 1: Кўзингизни кўрыдими? (Ko'zingizni korydimi?) (Can you see?)
  • Person 2: Ҳа, лекин умуман баданимда мускулчиллигим келади. (Ha, lekin umuman badanimda muskulchilligim keladi.) (Yes, but I have muscle pain all over my body.)

Symptoms[edit | edit source]

Here are some vocabulary words that describe common symptoms:

жудай zhuday Thirsty
ётарлик yotarlik Fatigue
коҳнадорлик kohnadorlik Headache
қон qon Blood
бола bola Fever
  • Person 1: Қонингизнинг томирчаларидан қатор қандай симптомлари бор? (Qoningizning tomirchalari dan qator qanday simptomlari bor?) (What symptoms do you have besides bleeding?)
  • Person 2: Бола бўлиб, ётарлик келади. (Bola bo'lib, yotarlik keladi.) (I have a fever and feel tired.)
  • Person 1: Кепеққали ётарлик келиб чиқарди ёки шудан бери бўлади? (Kepeqqali yotarlik kelib chiqardi yoki shudan beri boladi?) (Did you just start feeling thirsty or has it been like this for a while?)
  • Person 2: Шу кечадан бери ётарлик келади. (Shu kechadan beri yotarlik keladi.) (I have been feeling thirsty since last night.)
