The present tense of "be" in Southern Kurdish has three forms:

The past tense of "be" in Southern Kurdish also has three forms:

The future tense of "be" in Southern Kurdish uses the verb "be" in combination with the future particle "to". The forms are:

- Person 1: دامەزرێنی تەنها خۆشنیە ئاسۆیە ((Damezreni teneha xoshnye asoya) - I usually dine alone)
- Person 2: نیتی بێیە هاودارانت کێیە؟ ((Nit beya hawdaranat kêye?) - Where were your companions?)
- Person 1: ئەو بێوە ئارینا ئوتلێتۆ سەر کۆنسەرت دا ((Ew bewe arina autonomî sêr konserterda) - They were at the Arena Autonomy concert)
- Person 2: بەچەند زۆر بێوە؟ ((Beçend zor bewe?) - How many were there?
- Person 1: هەشت نفر ((Heşt nefir) - Eight people)
