Giving Your Opinion[edit | edit source]

When sharing your opinion, it's important to use the correct grammar structures in Agarabi. One way of expressing your opinion is by using the following patterns:

First Pattern:[edit | edit source]

Subject + na ✔/zara ❌+ Opinion Word + object

- na ✔ means "is" and is used with singular subjects - zara ❌ means "are" but is not used in Agarabi. It’s important not to mix up this with Turkish.

Here are some examples:

Agarabi Pronunciation English
ئەم کتێبە خۆشە. [emat kitêba xoshe] The book is good.
تەما هیواداری نیە. [tema hiwadarî nîe] They are not patriotic.
هیشتر زیاتر پیتەی خۆدەست. [hîshtar zîyater peytek xwedeşt] My shirt is more beautiful.

Second Pattern:[edit | edit source]

Subject + Opinion Word + be - هەیە ✔/نییە ❌ + object

- هەیە ✔ is used when the opinion is positive - نییە ❌ is used when the opinion is negative

Here are some examples:

Agarabi Pronunciation English
زۆر شادم لەگەل وانەی بەشیری. [zor şadem legel wane başiry] I am very happy with this gift.
هەڵسی خۆشم نییە لە کۆمەڵایەتی. [helisi xoshe nîe le komelayeti] I am not satisfied with the government.

Third Pattern:[edit | edit source]

Opinion Word + Subject + بێ خۆی ✔/بە خۆی ❌

- بێ خۆی ✔ means "alone" and is used when the opinion is positive - بە خۆی ❌ means "alone" and is used when the opinion is negative

Here are some examples:

Agarabi Pronunciation English
خەڵک خۆش بێ خۆی. [xelk xoshe be xoye] The people are good alone.
خشتەیەکی بەرز وحشەم بە خۆی. [xşteyekî baş weşem be xoye] I hate a big wall alone.

Dialogue[edit | edit source]

Here is a dialogue to illustrate the use of these patterns in context:

  • گرانە، ئەو پارەیە لە ناو ماڵەکەیت خۆشە دەبەخشی؟‎ (Grañe, aw pareyê le nav maleka xoye xoshe debexshi?) (Hey, do you like that painting in your house?)
  • بەطاویانی هەیە خەیاڵ. (Be tawayani heye xeyal.) (Yes, I think it's beautiful.)
  • ئا! ئەو نووسەری پیتەیە کەم سوود كردوە. (A! Ew nûserî peytekem sawd kirdewe. ) (Oh! The new design of the shirt is less attractive.)
  • نە، من بە خۆیی نیە خۆشەدووم. (Nê, min be xoyê nê xoshe dûm.) (No, I don't like it alone.)
