Numbers from 11 to 20[edit | edit source]
To build numbers from 11 to 20 in Chadian Arabic, we use a simple construction. You just need to remember the word "asher" (ten) that we learned earlier. After that, we add the basic numbers from 1 to 9. For example:
- 11: asher waahad (ten and one)
- 12: asher thnayn (ten and two)
- 13: asher thaltha (ten and three)
- 14: asher arba (ten and four)
- 15: asher khamsa (ten and five)
- 16: asher sitta (ten and six)
- 17: asher sbua (ten and seven)
- 18: asher thamania (ten and eight)
- 19: asher tisa (ten and nine)
- 20: ashreen (two tens)
As you can see, it's quite easy to form numbers in Chadian Arabic! Let's practice this new vocabulary with a dialogue.
- Person 1: kam daraja biddak? (what is your level?)
- Person 2: ana fii ashara waahad daraja. (I am at level 11)
