In this lesson, we will focus on expressing your opinion in Chadian Arabic. It is an important skill to have when communicating with others in any language. It allows you to express your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs in a clear and concise manner.

Basic Vocabulary[edit | edit source]

Before we dive into expressing our opinions, let's review some basic vocabulary that we will be using in this lesson.

Chadian Arabic Pronunciation English
مالك معدنق ؟ mālīk maʿdangu? What do you think?
هاني تفكيري hānī tafakkīrī In my opinion
إنت كيفاش تحس inti kifāsh taḥṣ How do you feel?
شوفو في نظرتكم shufū fī nẓartkum What's your point of view?
أنا نقول ana noqul I say
واش في ما عندك ئlem? wāsh fī mā ʿndk ʾelēm? Do you have anything to say?

Giving your Opinion[edit | edit source]

To express your opinion in Chadian Arabic, you can use different phrases such as:

- هاني تفكيري (hānī tafakkīrī): In my opinion - أنا نقول (ana noqul): I say - شوفو في نظرتكم (shufū fī nẓartkum): What's your point of view? - مالك معدنق (mālīk maʿdangu?): What do you think?

Here are some examples of how to use these phrases in sentences:

  • Person 1: مادام تفليني أنا نقول الكلام دا غلط (mādām teflīnī ana noqul elklām dā ghlāt) - Since you asked me, I think that what you said is wrong.
  • Person 2: شكون جاني يعتذر ؟ هاني تفكيري هو موش ضروري (shkon jānī yaʿṭādhir? hānī tafakkīrī hū mūsh dharūrī) - Who came to apologize to me? In my opinion, it's not necessary.
  • Person 1: واش في ما عندك ئlem? (wāsh fī mā ʿndk ʾelēm?) - Do you have anything to say?
  • Person 2: أنا معجبنيش هذا الفيلم (ana maʿjbnīsh hādha alfilm) - I don't like this movie.
  • Person 1: شوفو في نظرتكم. هل ممكن نحقق الهدف دا ؟ (shufū fī nẓartkum. hal mumkin niḥqeq elḥadaf dā?) - What's your point of view? Can we achieve this goal?
  • Person 2: مالك معدنق؟ أحنا ممكنين نحققه ولكن بشرط تعاون الجميع (mālīk maʿdangu? ahnā mumkinīn niḥqihu walakin bshart tʿaūn aljamiʿ) - What do you think? We can achieve it, but only if everyone cooperates.

Using Vocabulary in Context[edit | edit source]

Now that we know some basic vocabulary for expressing our opinions, let's practice using it in context.

    • Dialogue**

Person 1: هاذا مكان حلو، ما شاء الله. شوفو في نظرتكم؟ (hādha makān ḥalw, mā shāʾa allāh. shufū fī nẓartkum?) - This is a nice place, Mashallah. What's your point of view?

Person 2: نعم، هو مكان جميل. هاني تفكيري، أنا أتحمس للعودة إلى هنا (naʿam, huwa makān jamīl. hānī tafakkīrī, ana ataḥamass liliʿūda ʾila huna). - Yes, it's a beautiful place. In my opinion, I'm excited to come back here.

Person 1: وأنا كمان بجد أحب الجو هذا (wana kamān bjdd ahabb aljau hādha). - I also really love this atmosphere.

Person 2: أنا كنت أسمع عن هذا المكان من أصدقائي. مالك معدنق؟ (ana knt asmʿ ʿan hādha almakān min ʾaṣdiqāʾī. mālīk maʿdangu?) - I heard about this place from my friends. What do you think?

Person 1: من وجهة نظري، هذا المكان يستحق الزيارة (min wajhati nẓartī, hādha almakān yastahiq alziyārah). - In my point of view, this place is worth a visit.

    • Vocabulary Practice**

Use the following phrases to give your opinion about the topics below.

  • شوفو في نظرتكم؟ هل تحبون السينما؟ (shufū fī nẓartkum? hal tuhibūn alcinemā?)

- What's your point of view? Do you like movies?

  • مالك معدنق؟ هل تريد أن تعمل في شركة كبيرة أو صغيرة؟ (mālīk maʿdangu? hal turīd ʾan taʿmel fī sharikat kbyrah ʾaw saghirah?)

- What do you think? Do you want to work for a big or small company?

  • أنا نقول أن الموسيقى تجعل الناس سعداء (ana noqul ʾan almūsiqā tajʿal alnnās saʿdāʾ).

- I say that music makes people happy.

  • هاني تفكيري، إن الرياضة تحسن صحتكم (hānī tafakkīrī, ʾin alriyādah taḥsun ṣaḥtikum).

- In my opinion, sports improve your health.
