Conjugation of the verb “to know” ცოდნა in Georgian

This is the only verb in Georgian which has the III person subject in ergative in the present tense.

All other transitive verbs have the ergative subject only in past tense – in the II series. The I and the II person pronouns never change their forms.

Present tense

I s. მე ვიცი I pl. ჩვენ ვიცით II s. შენ იცი II pl. თქვენ იცით III s. მან/კაცმა იცის III pl. მათ/კაცებმა იციან

Past tense

I s. მე ვიცოდი I pl. ჩვენ ვიცოდით II s. შენ იცოდი II pl. თქვენ იცოდით III s. მან/კაცმა იცოდა III pl. მათ/კაცებმა იცოდნენ

Future tense

I s. მე მეცოდინება I pl. ჩვენ გვეცოდინება II s. შენ გეცოდინება II pl. თქვენ გეცოდინებათ III s. მან/კაცმა ეცოდინება III pl. მათ/კაცებმა ეცოდინებათ
