Palauan is an Austronesian language spoken in Palau, of which it is one of the official languages.

Paluan alone constitutes a branch of the Malayo-Polynesian branch of the Austronesian languages. It is therefore not part of the Oceanic languages, and is one of the only two languages in this case in Oceania (apart from the various Creoles and European languages imported since the passage of Magellan in the region).

Linguists consider Paluan to be more of a western Malayo-Polynesian language, along with the languages of the Philippines and western Indonesia.
