The verb "be" is used to express existence, identity, or a state of being. In Tamil, the verb "be" is conjugated differently depending on the subject of the sentence. The verb "be" can be conjugated in the present, past, and future tenses.

The present tense of the verb "be" is இருக்கிறது (iru-ki-ru-thu). This form is used when the subject of the sentence is singular. For example:

* என் பெயர் ராமன் இருக்கிறது (en peyar Raaman iru-ki-ru-thu) - My name is Raaman.

The past tense of the verb "be" is இருந்தது (iru-n-tha-thu). This form is used when the subject of the sentence is singular. For example:

* அவன் என் தந்தை இருந்தது (avan en thandhai iru-n-tha-thu) - He was my father.

The future tense of the verb "be" is இருக்கும் (iru-k-kum). This form is used when the subject of the sentence is singular. For example:

* அவள் என் சகோதரன் இருக்கும் (aval en sakotharan iru-k-kum) - She will be my teacher.
