Gender is an important part of Halh Mongolian grammar. It is used to indicate the gender of nouns and pronouns. There are three genders in Halh Mongolian: masculine, feminine and neuter.

==Rules==
The gender of a noun or pronoun is usually determined by its ending. Here are the general rules for determining the gender of a word:

* Masculine nouns and pronouns usually end in -a or -u.
* Feminine nouns and pronouns usually end in -i or -e.
* Neuter nouns and pronouns usually end in -o or -ö.

However, there are some exceptions to these rules. For example, some nouns and pronouns that end in -a or -u can be either masculine or neuter.
