Future Tense in Arabic

it is so easy to convert the sentence into Future Tense (simple Future)

In Arabic we have only three tenses: Past - Present - Future. (Perfect and progressive cases are not found in Arabic)

We form Future from the present tense المضارع

You can form the Future tense by adding the letter س to the beginning of present tense verb. س should be attached to the verb.

Present tense: يدرس الطلاب (The students study)

Future Tense: سيدرس الطلاب (The students shall study)

there is another way for forming the future tense, which is similar to the above one. but the difference is to use the article سوف. It should be noted that the article سوف shall be separated and NOT attached to the verb and should come before the verb directly.

Present tense: يدرس الطلاب (The students study)

Future Tense: سوف يدرس الطلاب (The students shall study)

The main difference between both articles is that س is used to refer to near future, while سوف refers to far future.

Unlike most European languages, Arabic does not use the verb "be", because it is a dummy word. You can make a fully comprehensive sentence without using the verb "be".

However, there are some cases where the verb "be" and its sisters (كان و أخواتها) can be used for changing the tenses.
