Hi, my name is Roger and I live in the city of Cape Town. This stunning city is surrounded on 3 sides by the sea and has iconic Table Mountain as a backdrop. I am very proud of my city and would be pleased to tell you things about her should you ever consider making a journey to our corner of Africa. I speak and write good English and I can "get by" in Afrikaans. My Afrikaans, although not at a sophisticated level, means that I can comprehend a certain amount of written Dutch. I would also like to be able to speak and understand this fascinating language. I "did" 1 year of German at high / secondary school and I am keen to at least be able to learn sufficient German to be able engage in some basic communication, especially prior to my next visit Germany. If any one is able to assist me with Dutch or German, I would love to hear from you and I would also be delighted to see how I can assist with either English or some basic Afrikaans. If you want help with your English especially, I may have time to give you some assistance, even if you are not able to offer Dutch or German in exchange. I am a happily married family man and I am involved in the bed & breakfast and tourism industry here in Cape Town. We have our own small bed & breakfast / self-catering accommodation, so although we may not be able to offer it for free, we could certainly give a discount to a Polyglot Club Member! I also have a reasonably good knowledge of our famous Table Mountain and would be happy to act as a free guide, subject to time constraints. AFRIKAANS: In verband met Afrikaans, ek kan die taal taamlik goed verstaan, maar ek kan nie die taal so mooi praat of skryf nie. Hierdie paar sinne het heelwaarskynlik 'n hele klomp foute! So ek soek ook die geleentheid om hierdie taal te laat verbeter.
