Hello and Blessed Be! I’m Austin, a 20 year old transgender man from Washington State, USA. I have a love for language learning, I practice Celtic Paganism as my religion, and I am training to become a Modern Druid. My pronouns are He/Him/His, and I’m on both the Autism and ADHD spectrums. Part of what I want to incorporate into my spirituality and Celtic-Pagan lifestyle is learning Irish, Scottish Gaelic, and Welsh to the best of my ability. I hope to someday be able to easily speak, understand, read and write in these three Celtic languages, so that I’m able to better connect with my heritage and ancestors (and those in the Pagan community who speak these languages), use them in my religious and spiritual practice, and pass the languages on to my future family. Learning and passing on these certain languages is something that feels immensely important to me and my religious path, especially since I practice a mixture of Irish, Scottish, and Welsh Pagan traditions and beliefs, and have strong lineage on both sides of my family in Ireland, Wales, and Scotland. I’m hoping I can meet some kind and patient folk here who speak these languages natively or as a fluent second language to help me on this endeavor- particularly if I happen to meet other Pagan folks who are more understanding of general Neo-Pagan beliefs, traditions, and culture!
