About
I’m a writer and lecturer on classical music who is interested in meeting an Armenian and/or Japanese pen friend in order to improve my knowledge of both languages. With respect to Japanese, I can manage some conversation and have memorized all kana, as well as about 700 kanji (including kyūjitai variants). Armenian, however, I am an absolute beginner on and am still working on memorizing the alphabet.
Will be visiting Yerevan for about a week in June 2019. Depending on how this research trip goes, it may be followed by a handful of succeeding trips. Ideally, my Armenian pen friend would have some knowledge and appreciation of classical music. Would love to meet in person when I travel to Armenia in the summer.
As far as Japan goes, I am working on flying there for musical research in the next year or so.
Some brief details about myself:
• I am obsessed with literature and read upwards of two dozen books a month. Novels (especially from Japan, Eastern Europe, Latin America and Spain), books about classical music, and books about Japan’s post-Meiji era history are my favorite genres.
• I love chocolate.
• Politeness, tact, and gentility are very important to me.
• My Spanish is sometimes difficult even for other native speakers to comprehend because of my family’s regional accent. (They are from Chile.)
• I love conversation.
