Hello !

(I'm sorry if I make mistakes, but I'm french)

I'm going to ask you a few questions, especially to peoples who learn alone a language.

I will be very happy if you answer this.

1) Do you learn alone / at school / with a teacher ?

2) How many languages do you speak ? How many do you learn ?

3) Which ones ?

4) How do you begin to learn a language ?

5) Which method do you use ?

6) Have you "secrets" to learn a language ?

7) Something else about "how to learn a language" ?

Thank you very much !

1. I learn alone at home usually after lectures.
2. Currently I'm speaking two languages and I'm learning two others language.
3. I speak English and Malay. And I'm learning German and Russian at the moment.
4. For me I downloaded audio and e-books and the audio-book starts with common phrases to get you to familiarize with the language.
5. What have been working for me so far is that I listen to what the audio-book says and try to re-write the phrases down and see if I get the spellings right. Also I learn from songs and movies. Lots of them.
6. Yes, pronounce each words confidently. Approach tourists in your country and try to speak to them, that's free practice session right there.
7. Yeah try to translate your thoughts into the language you're learning. Write it down and check to see if it's correct later when you're online.

English is a germanic language. However, it contains romance patterns of grammar. English can be valuable whether you go on learning germanic languages (because of vocab) or romance languages (because of grammatical patterns).

Hey Smaugthedesolator. I'm jose from Mexico. I'll help out. I learn languages by myself. 1) I'm learning by myself. I like learning so because I can keep my mind on what I learn. Now I'm learning German and I wanna start up with Finnish next month. 2 y 3) I can speak 2: Spanish and English. I'm learning 2: French and German 4) I've begun to learn languages at school. I've been schooled all my life until up today. There started out all. 5) I've got no methods. Even school methods didn't work for me. I always felt boring when I learnt languages in a classroom. I learn languages by reading, or watching videos. I'd rather learn a lot of vocab. 6) Two noteworthy secrets: LOL then those are no longer secrets. 1) Vocalize: if you are good at copying animal sounds or friend's voices then you can improve promptly your speaking. 2) Don't learn languages as if they were systems. They look like each other but they don't. Be open and don't allow that languages become patterns. 7) Learning languages is something of great import. If you aren't serious, forget them and take a different way. That's not only "I learn few words and I know English. You must become engaged in it.

  1. I am trying to learn alone. That seems to work better for me.

  2. I currently speak two, English and French. I'd like to learn many more, though.

  3. As many as I can manage.

  4. At the moment I am focusing on Japanese, but have also tacked on Russian, Hebrew and Mandarin.. because I'm an overachiever.

  5. I generally look online.. I've been reading phrases in Japanese Romaji and trying to recognize the katakana. it's slow work though.

  6. I've found that's its easier to go from French to other languages, even though I'm more proficient in English at the moment (becuase I've been lax in my French) the English grammatical system isn't compatible with most other languages.

  7. Not that I can think of
